All's Well That Ends Well

Carla flew out of BWI and arrived at her daughter’s a few hours later.  Dwayne’s day was not as smooth.  First, he discovered he needed a very deep well socket and long extension for the ratchet wrench in order to be able to remove the lock nut and tighten the adjustment nuts on Foreign Affair’s steering wheel cable.  Fortunately, one of the mechanics in the machine shop had exactly what was needed for the job.  Dwayne was able to make the adjustment.  It just took longer due to having to find the tools for the job.

Next, he discovered the car would not start because he left the lights on all night and the battery was drained.  Fortunately, the marina had a jumper battery and one of the marina staff helped get the car started.  Then, Dwayne discovered the car’s air conditioning system wasn’t working and an engine warning light was showing on the car’s instrument panel.  The car seemed to be running fine.  So, Dwayne continued on his way to pick up his friend, Terry, at BWI.

Upon arriving at the airport, Dwayne discovered Terry was not due to arrive until the next day.  Rather than drive back to Rock Hall, Dwayne continued on to Brian’s house as it was closer and perhaps Mike, Brian’s son-in-law, could figure out what was wrong with the car.  It was discovered that a relay was bad on the A/C and the engine warning light came on because the battery was drained and the car’s diagnostic system hadn’t rebooted itself.  It was all relatively minor problems and repairable without great expense.  Dwayne spent the night and will pick up Terry tomorrow.  All’s well that ends well.
