Marina at Great Sand Dunes (Myrtle Beach, SC) to Georgetown

We left Myrtle Beach with the sun shining and the temperature warming. The run to Georgetown was easy as there were no significant shallow areas or inlets to hinder our progress. In fact, we had good water depth the entire way, particularly when we were on the Waccamaw River which is very deep and wide. The wind picked up as the day progressed. It was blowing pretty good when we entered the marina which presented some challenges at docking. The marina was full for the evening.

We headed for dinner in Georgetown after registering at the marina office. We all wanted some comfort food. Dwayne suggested going to Aunny's which has a reputation for good, low-country cooking and reasonable prices. It lived up to its reputation. Dwayne and Frank had the seafood platter which featured fried shrimp, fried clams and fried whiting along with fried corn, yams, collard greens and yellow rice. Carla and Carol had the fried spot (fish), red rice and fried corn. Sweet tea washed it all down. We had to take some home as we couldn't eat it all at one sitting. After dinner, we returned to Foreign Affair for drinks and conversation before turning in for the evening.
