Fall River, MA - Battleship Cove

We made it through the night and were happy to find ourselves still attached to the  mooring. The wind blew fairly strong throughout the night (high teens and gusts into the twenties). The boat hobby horsed a little but it didn't bother us much. We were mostly concerned that the mooring would hold.

We decided to pass the day visiting our neighbors - the warships in Battleship Cove. All four warships are now museum pieces and open for tours. So, we took the dinghy to the nearby dock and spent the rest of the day exploring the battleship, USS Massachusetts, the destroyer, USS Joseph P. Kennedy, Jr, and the submarine, USS Lionfish. We spent at least two hours on the USS Massachusetts wandering through its many departments and numerous decks. She is a war museum with exhibits covering the other branches of the military and major military engagements during World War II. The destroyer and submarine were exhibits themselves and their focus was on the role of the destroyer and submarine forces during World War II. It was an amazing experience.

We returned to Foreign Affair for dinner and spent the rest of the evening reading and watching a movie. The winds during the day were relatively light in the 10 - 15 knot range. They picked up again in the evening and once more blew steadily in the teens and low twenties.
