Wahoo River Anchorage to St. Simons Island

After a very quiet night at anchor, we left the Wahoo River at 0830 bound for St. Simons Island.  We were not sure we'd make it as we had to wait for the tide to give us a boost through the Little Mud River which is only 3 feet deep in parts at low tide.  Tides in this part of Georgia are around 9 feet. We arrived at the entrance to this trouble spot at 1230 but needed to wait a while for more water before beginning our passage.  We entered the Little Mud River at 1310 and had no difficulty getting through on the rising tide.

Crossing Sapelo Sound

Our next challenge was getting to the marina before dark.  We got a big push from the tidal flow and arrived at the marina just before sunset.

Coastal Kitchen at Morningstar Marina, St. Simons Island

The Coastal Kitchen Restaurant at the marina had a great happy hour and discounted our meals.  Their 9 rum drinks are fabulous.  Dwayne had 2 of them.  Carla stuck to wine.  Dinner was exceptionally good. Dwayne's scallops and shrimp were scrumptious and served with butternut squash and crispy green beans.  Carla had curry asparagus puree soup and a fresh green salad.  The SAIL Rally voyagers enjoyed one of the best evenings on the trip.
