Beyond New Dawn B&B

We arrived Gail's "New Dawn B&B" in Saunderstown, Rhode Island just before 2100 after a long drive from Herrington Harbour. Gail's beautiful B&B is only a short drive from Newport which is the only stop in the US for the Volvo Ocean Race. We came to see the In-shore and Departure races.

Our total trip was just over 400 miles and should have taken about 7 hours.  We got through NYC without too much of a delay.  Traffic on Interstate 95 came to "stop and go" at the Connecticut border and stayed that way until New Haven.  It took 3 hours to go 75 miles (yes, that is 25 miles per hour on the interstate highway).  We shifted over to US Highway 1 and it was slower yet.  So, we stopped for dinner hoping things would be better after we ate.  Traffic moved faster but not much faster.  We averaged 45 mile an hour to just short of the Rhode Island state line.

We arrived at Gail's shortly after dark.  She was very sympathetic and improved our state of mind with a fine glass of wine and good conversation.  If you need somewhere to stay in Rhode Island, we highly recommend contacting Gail.  Her B&B information can be found on the airbnb.com website:
