Rendezvous in Columbia

January 15

Dwayne flew out of Kansas City and Carla from Charlotte, NC.  They arrived within minutes of each other at BWI and by chance had the same station for baggage claim.  It couldn't have been more convenient.  Even more amazing was Dwayne's brother, Brian. arrived a few minutes after the bags were recovered and pulled up right in front of the door for pick-up.  No time or effort wasted.  Shortly after, we were all together sitting at the kitchen table at Brian's enjoying hot pizza and beer that was ordered for delivery while we were returning from the airport.  At least we are starting our Round the World (RTW) tour in good order.  Let's hope our luck holds.

We Are on Our Way Round the World (RTW)

January 16

We had a one day layover in Columbia prior to our departure for Rome.  We still had a few loose ends to tie up.  Dwayne bought a pair of hiking boots and made one last stop at the bank.  Carla, Brian and Janet went to CVS Minute Care to get Typhoid vaccinations and malaria pills.  Dwayne and Brian picked up the rental car that we will use to get to Dulles for our first flight to JFK in NYC.  From there we fly KLM to Rome.  Brian also went over the itinerary for the next few days.  We also checked in with Delta to get our boarding passes on-line.  We closed out the evening watching Bob Hope and Bing Crosby in "The Road to Morocco" since that is our next stop after Rome.  It was a great start to a new adventure.  We'll be gone for about 10 weeks.
