Grandaughters Arrive

Granddaughters, Megan and Lauren arrived to stay with us for a few days.  Their mother had to attend a short notice business meeting in Virginia and decided to bring the girls along for a surprise visit.

They were the first of several guests to surprise us with a visit prior to our leaving Herrington Harbour to begin our journey toward New York City and points north.

We entertained the girls with time on the beach and a dinghy ride.

That night Mother Nature entertained us all with the worst storm we experienced this year.  Winds gusted up into the 40 mph range.  Thunder and lightening were loud and close.  Two inches of rain fell - sometimes horizontally as well as vertically.  A tornado touched down about 10 miles from us.

The boat was really rocking and rolling in her slip.  At one time, we were heeling so much, I thought I'd have to hike out to keep her from going over (just kidding).  The girls were oblivious and played games with Carla while I watched the storm from the cockpit.
