Nassau - Day 2

We slept in as best we could.  Boats started moving about the harbor around 0700 and their wakes sometimes rocked Foreign Affair in her slip.  We eventually made our way out of bed into the salon and had breakfast.  Carol and Frank were still trying to arrange for a doctor’s appointment.  Eventually, they settled on heading to Doctors’ Hospital to meet with a neurologist.  Carla and Dwayne went shopping for provisions.

Propane canisters were dropped off to be refilled at Brown’s Boat Basin.  The “Fresh Market” was in a shopping center about a half mile from the marina.  We did a quick walk through and headed to Dairy Queen and Domino’s Pizza for lunch.  They were co-located in the same building which made it easy to get the best of both.  Dwayne ordered a pineapple shake to go with his pizza.  Carla had a Pepsi with her pizza.

After lunch, it was to the super market to restock our food stores.  It was just like being back in the States except prices were a third to a half more expensive.  Still, it was cheaper than what we experienced on the out-islands.  Milk was $5.35 a gallon compared to $8 to $16 a gallon depending on where you were in the islands.  Cold cuts and pork chops weren’t much more expensive than back home and we stocked up.  There was even a deli department.

We returned to the marina and learned Frank had a herniated disc which was being treated with various drugs.  We will wait a few days to see how he feels before heading back to the Exumas.  He wants to continue the trip; however, if the pain isn’t manageable, Hakuna Matata will be heading back to the States.  Tomorrow we will take a guided driving tour of Nassau.
