George and Ann Visit - Farewell Forest and Susan
Tuesday, February 14, 2017
George and
Ann of Valiant, a Tartan 3700 drove
down for a visit. We first met them in Annapolis during a preparatory seminar
for our SAIL ICW rally. We got to know them better during our weeks heading
south on the ICW last year. They have recently sold their house and are now
Florida residents. They keep Valiant
docked at the Stuart Loggerhead Marina which is located in the heart of a gated
community with superb amenities.
George and Ann - Valiant at Driftwood Resort |
George and Ann are very familiar with Vero Beach having stayed there for several weeks last year on Valiant. We went for lunch at Driftwood Resort which is one of the oldest and still popular waterfront hotels on Vero Beach. It was a beautiful, warm sunny day. We sat overlooking the sandy beach discussing the past and our futures while leisurely enjoying our meal.
George and
Ann intend to tour the Bahamas next year. They were anxious to hear about our
plans and preparations. Our trip to Walmart for provisions caught their
attention. We brought back a lot of stuff to add to our already significant
ship’s stores. Thanks to their willingness to drive us around for last minute
items, we are ready to leave Vero Beach well provisioned.
George and
Ann helped us load our purchases into the dinghy and bade us farewell. We
thanked them again and headed off for Foreign
Affair to quickly unload and travel the short distance to Rejoice for dinner with Frank and
Susan. They are a wonderful couple and
also very helpful. We wish we could spend more time with them. Like us, they
are also SSCA members and exemplify the best traits of a Seven Seas Cruiser. We
hope to see them again someday. Unfortunately, it may not be so, as they summer
on the Narragansett Bay and winter in either the Bahamas or Florida. They will
be headed north before we return from the Bahamas.
Forest and Susan - Rejoice |
Tomorrow we
leave Vero Beach to rendezvous with Hakuna
Matata in Fort Lauderdale sometime later in the week. We plan to cross over
to West End, Bahamas with them.
