Amazon Delivers in time for Valentine's Day

Today was a special day. The UPS driver dropped off half a dozen Amazon boxes. These were last minute items we wanted or needed for our Bahamas trip. Carla’s Valentine’s Day gift was among them. To help us catch our own fish so we don’t starve in the Bahamas, we got some Penn Reel Grease, Reel Oil and Reel Cleaner. We also got two books to help us learn how to catch and identify the fish we hope end up on our dinner table. Carla was really excited about her Valentine’s gifts – a great little Lewmar claw anchor and 100 feet of anchor line for the dinghy. We don’t want the dinghy to get away from us in the Bahamas. We might also need the anchor to keep us from being pulled out into the Atlantic Ocean should our outboard motor stop running.

What Did You Get Your Love for Valentine's Day?
Our boat task for the day was checking out our mainsail. We hit a snag about 6 inches from being fully up the last time we raised it. Something was interfering with getting it all the way to the top of the mast and we had to find out what the problem was before heading for the Bahamas. It turned out the topping lift line had slid some and put the Dutchman furling system out of alignment. The main sail went up fine after getting the topping life line back into its proper position. We marked the line so we would know how it should be set if it comes out of position again.

Hoping to Hear the Cry: "Fish On"

The evening was spent developing an alternate plan for our trip to the Bahamas which would take us into the Abacos first and then into the Exumas and maybe Eleuthera. We are already 10 days short on our original plan due to delays in preparation and waiting for Frank and Carol on Hakuna Matata to cross over from the Florida Gulf side. Not a big deal as we plan to stay in the islands until about May 1. That still gives us plenty of time to explore the Bahamas.
