Ridout Creek to Shipping Creek

Another very calm day on the Bay.  Little to no wind and waves less than one foot.  Motored all day from Ridout Creek just north of Annapolis to Shipping Creek on Kent Island’s eastern shore (about 27 nautical miles).

Several ships were at anchor waiting to get into Baltimore harbor and one passed us going to sea. The Midshipmen from US Naval Academy in Annapolis had one of their training vessels out and passed close by us.

Few boats were on the Bay since it was a week day and there was no wind. Not a great day to sail. We motored for almost 6 hours.

Upon entering the Eastern Bay we toured Cox Creek before entering Shipping Creek to anchor for the night. Both Kent Island and the western shore of Cox Creek are filled with million dollar plus homes on 5 acre lots – most with private docks. Watermen still work the waters here but live in much more modest homes. A very few farms are still engaged in agriculture. Almost every farm adjacent to the Bay has sold lots to developers.
