Hope Town to Marsh Harbour (Boat Harbour Anchorage)

March 14

Another cold front is moving in from the north.  The anchorage off Hope Town is being deserted due to the increasing size of the waves because of the long fetch created by the wind shift.  We weighed anchor at 1030 when the waves grew to 2 - 3 feet.  Several other boats were also beginning to move and by the time we got underway, there was only one boat left at anchor.

Jigsaw Puzzle - Passing Time

We decided to head to a spot just off the entrance to Boat Harbour which is on the southern shore of Marsh Harbour.  The peninsula provides good protection and the water is deep enough to get very close to the shoreline.  One other sloop was anchored there when we arrived.  Six other boats joined us by sundown.  It was very calm in the anchorage despite winds in the high teens and gusts in the twenties.  The anchor set right away in the sand and we laid out 150 feet of chain as the winds are supposed to get into the twenties.  No problem.  We had good protection and plenty of room if we dragged which we doubted would happen.

We took long naps after lunch.  Dwayne spent time planning our next week.  Carla started to put together a 500 piece jigsaw puzzle.  We closed the day with a dinner of BBQ pulled pork, potato salad and beans followed by reading.

Winds continued to blow hard from the Northeast.  So, we just maintained our position on anchor as did most of the other boats around us.  We were well-protected and there were no waves but only ripples of about a foot or less hitting our boat.  We spent the day reading and working on our fishing gear.  Carla continued to work on her 500 piece jigsaw puzzle which kept her busy for several hours.
