Rockhouse Creek Anchorage to Titusville

We left the Rockhouse Creek anchorage at 0745 so we would so we would pass through Ponce Inlet near high tide since there are low spots where the inlet meets the ICW. Pearl left at first light and was running ahead of us. We were both bound for Titusville for the night and planned on getting together there for dinner.

Ponce Light
Our run to Titusville went smoothly. We only saw two manatees at the Haulover Canal; it was a bit cold so they had moved to warmer water. We saw at least seven roseate spoonbills on the islands just west of Haulover which made up for the lack of manatees. Carla loves this spot because she gets to see two of her favorite and hard to find animals in one location.

We arrived at Titusville with plenty of time to refuel, pump-out, find our mooring and go ashore for showers before dinner. Pete and Dianne came over from Pearl. We got acquainted with each other while savoring our mixed green salad, tortellini in marinara sauce and raspberry shortcake with whipped cream. After dinner we shared stories and our plans for the future.

Pearl - Bristol 40
Pete and Dianne are retired and have been cruising on Pearl, a Bristol 40 which Pete bought many years ago and refitted for long term cruising. They have been out for 15 years and wintered in the Bahamas for over a dozen years. Now, they are headed to the Florida Keys for the first time. So, we gave them what little advice we could on the Florida Keys and they drew on their wealth of knowledge of the Bahamas to help us enjoy our time there.

We exchanged boat cards and hoped we would meet again sometime in the future. Pearl is going to lay over in Titusville a few days. We leave tomorrow for Cocoa.
