St. Clements Bay to Tobacco River
Thursday, September 17, 2015
The US Navy Special Operations units had their day on the
Potomac today. Several “Fast Boats”
passed us coming and going as we speed along at a steady 6 knots. Their wake was pretty significant and rolled
our boat some.
We saw the Coast Guard buoy tender again taking care of another
buoy on the Potomac. Very little traffic
on the river today.
Went up the Wicomico River and found it pretty boring. No spectacular scenery or fabulous
homes. We made up for the boredom of the
Wicomico when we entered the Tobacco River to anchor for the evening. The mouth of the river was filled with the
highest concentration of crab pots we have ever seen. That plus the shallow unmarked entrance kept
us on full alert. We finally anchored in
8 feet of water just off Chapel Point which is topped off by a beautiful,
small, old chapel overlooking the river.
