La Trappe Creek to Cambridge and return

We came in to Cambridge to refuel, pump-out, get water and food.  We anchored out for 10 consecutive  which appear to be as long as we can go without restocking our food and water.  We came into the Cambridge Municipal Marina for fuel and pump-out.  Took on almost 26 gallons of diesel.  The Cambridge Yacht Club let us dock at their facilities while we went to the grocery store.  We had a wonderful lunch at their clubhouse and got directions to the nearest market.

We were somewhat familiar with Cambridge since we took a walking tour of the downtown in late July.  We walked about a mile to Simmons Center Market which has been run by the same family since 1937.  It is truly the old-fashioned “corner store” with a butcher shop in the rear just like the store I remember as a kid.  At first, we were only getting enough food for a few days to get us by until we were at a marina with a courtesy shuttle.  However, when the owners learned we were on foot and had to carry our groceries back to the boat, they offered to give us a ride.  So, we stocked up for another week.  Best of all, Rosie, who drove us back, asked if we needed anything else besides groceries.  We ended up at the hardware store for a hose fitting, an auto parts store for oil, and a liquor store for beer.  We ended the day back at anchor and ready for another week of cruising.
