Marblehead to Boston
It was a short 3 hour hop from Marblehead to Boston. We took a Boston Harbor Sailing Club mooring which was located about 100 yards off the New England Aquarium. We were right in the heart of Boston. The club's harbor launch dropped us at Rowes Wharf with its luxury hotels, multi-million dollar condos, high-end retail and award winning restaurants. Its good that many of the rich and famous are wearing shabby clothing. We fit right in when we went ashore.

Boston Eggs - Deer Island |
The most prominent sight as you enter Boston Harbor are the "Boston Eggs" on Deer Island. We discovered that these egg shaped objects are part of the MWRA's Deer Island Sewage Treatment Plant which protects Boston Harbor against pollution from Boston's sewers. This innovative, artistic pollution solution was completed at a cost of only $3.8 Billion dollars. Much less than the "Big Dig".

Paul Revere's House |
We took a walking tour of Boston's historic colonial center. Among the sites we visited were Old North Church, Faneuil Hall, Paul Revere's House, Old South Meeting House, Old State House and Bunker Hill. It was a beautiful day and we needed our exercise ashore. We walked almost 7 miles before the day was done. We ended up in the Italian district of North Boston. The St. Anthony's Festival was in progress. We ate at one of the dozens of Italian restaurants which line the streets of North Boston.
